This two-piece “puzzle” trading card piece is by the mighty Sanna U (aka Mel Uran) and is just wonderful. She’s a lady who likes drawing handsome men, and boy howdy does she deliver on it.
She also only rarely takes commissions, but thanks to bad weather keeping me indoors a couple of weeks back, I lucked out when I saw her commision slots open on e-bay, and I managed to snag the last three of them.
One of my favourite themes is these two guys together… not necessarily in a slash-y way (though if that thought gives anyone a happy, you just enjoy it), but as brothers from different universes; ridiculously handome circus acrobats turned swashbuckling heroes because they can think of no worthier cause than helping people, and who just happen to be awesome people in their own right.
My fanfic theory is that Dick and Kurt, thanks to an accident early in their lives, involving their respective circuses in their respective universes both touring near Stonehenge whilst Kurt’s adoptive mother (and sorceress) Margali was casting a spell, and Kurt was experimenting with his bamfing, have been meeting about once a year ever since, for the length of a single night. As Dick and Kurt, or Robin and Nightcrawler, or Nightwing and Nighcrawler, they hang out together, have fun and talk over their lives.
At sunrise, the spell is broken and Kurt (Who is usually the one to travel, being a teleporter) returns to his world, and their memories fade until the next time.
And yet, every now and again, when both are being heroic, or even just relaxing at the same time, sometimes, the barriers between the worlds get a little… thin, and for a moment they might catch a glimpse of each other (though no one else does), as if in a mirror, and that gives them a warm, happy feeling, for reasons they might not entirely understand.
Sanna U captured this concept so well I can hardly describe how pleased I am with it… but that’s never stopped me before.
Just soak up the pretty!
